Good Morning and Happy Friday!
This morning I started with a thought about focus. I was recognizing how easy it is to get distracted, and so thought I would write about the question of staying the course when learning or achieving something that takes a while. This is the turn I took, see what you think…
Teaching has given me insight and appreciation in the value of focus; in having clear goals, a path to get there and a guide on the quest. When the quest is to learn, to get better at some academic skill there are plenty of methods to achieve that. There are libraries, book stores, and on-line resources. We are not at a loss for information. What I find is that to do this on one’s own is difficult. There aren’t many who find success this way. Most of us benefit from having someone break down the task into smaller pieces; to explain the big picture and help us see how small steps fit the bigger goal. We want to hear from someone who has also asked these questions, dealt with these problems and can offer some perspective, tools, examples to move forward, find answers. It also helps to have someone there as we take steps trying out new learning, different methods; to provide feedback, recognize growth and celebrate accomplishments.
Hopefully, we have all had a teacher who has done this at some point in our lives. Someone who has seen potential, been there on the journey, assisting in the move into a bigger way of thinking, being, understanding.
With this in mind, some questions to consider today are:
What are the life lessons on my plate right now?
Where do I look for and get focus and support?
What would be different for me if I had a guide/teacher/coach?
When do I need this kind of support?
Always curious,
Judy
And, if something you want is greater clarity and support on this journey – I can help with that.
