Good Morning,

Are you a fan of spring cleaning? Though cleaning is not one of my favorite pastimes there is an urge this time of year to clear things out, clean windows, freshen things up, let in that spring breeze.

How about also doing some inner spring cleaning? Start by noticing what weighs you down. What saps your energy? What feels heavy? What could you let go of? Possibilities could include things like:

· Worry What worries do you carry about things you can’t control? What do you fear that may never happen?

· Past mistakes – “If only I would have known then what I know now.” Be easy with yourself, forgive yourself. Take in, learn the lesson and let it go.

· Comparisons – Am I as successful/smart/rich/good looking/happy/talented/…. As my neighbor/friend/sister/classmate/colleague…..

· Over responsibility for others – This is about letting others be on their path and letting go of some of those really good ideas we have about how they should be, what they should do, and feel. Darn, this would be a great super power to have sometimes, but gotta let it go.

What else? What other thoughts, beliefs, habits do you want to put in the bin, and bid adieu?

Lighten up,

Judy

Good Morning,

Today’s suggestion is that you become aware of your inner dialogue. What do you notice? Do you have an active inner critic? Do you treat yourself with compassion? This topic was discussed this week on Wisconsin Public Radio. Dr. Kristin Neff was a guest. She is the author of a book, Self Compassion (www.self-compassion.org). She spoke about how practicing self compassion can enhance well-being, build confidence and allow greater clarity even in difficult situations.

This week notice your self-talk. Are you kind to yourself? Would you say those things to a friend?

Give yourself permission to be human. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone faces challenges. Life can be unfair. Be good to yourself. Appreciate yourself. Be your own best friend and notice what that sounds like – what that message is.

Practice kindness,

Judy

Good morning,

Today is Friday the 13th. Are you superstitious? What a perfect day for today’s message about limiting beliefs. This morning consider some beliefs you may hold that can get in your way. We all have beliefs we take for granted, assume to be true, that influence what we do, what we expect, what we create.

Limiting beliefs can sound like: That would be nice to have/do/be, but it’s too hard….it would never work….it’s too late. Any of these sound familiar? The belief and the thoughts can keep us from trying, from taking any action in the direction of what we want.

This week notice thoughts like these, and try a new thought: it might be hard, but I could do one little thing….it might not work but I can experiment….the timing may not be perfect but it could be time for something similar…. Then, back that thought up with some action, some small step, one little thing, even 10 minutes worth. Make a start. Notice your thinking. Give it time.

Stretch!

Good morning,

What would you call the life stage you are in right now?

How about one of these…

-busy working mom/household managing/wedging in friends/being a wife/with a little self care, personal growth on the side?

- career focused/relationship building/learning/exploring?

-career maintaining/empty nest/transitioning

- family connector/work on the side/learner/relaxed pace?

There are so many ways to label the chief duties, commitments, where we put our energy at any stage of life. Sometimes it is worth stepping back to consider the stage you are in and realize that the stage you are in now will not remain constant. Things will change…children grow…relationships shift….we change, learn, and grow…our priorities change...opportunities come and go…

My request this morning is to play with naming your stage. What would you call it? What is your work, your focus right now? This is the perfect time for _____________ what?

Pay attention,

Judy
