Good morning,

What is your perfect daily balance? Each day holds a combination of activities, segments, devoted to different things, various roles, responsibilities; all calling for a certain energy, focus, perspective.

You could think about this and sort your day into categories, i.e.: quiet, personal time, social/interactive, physical activity, structured, unstructured, relaxation, family, chores, reflection….. There are lots of ways to categorize where you spend your time and energy. It can be worthwhile to notice and record your activities in order to get an understanding of what gets your time and attention.

Often I talk to people about what is important to them and we look for ways to better align what they want with what they are doing and who they are being. It’s helpful to start with an awareness of where you are to start with. See what you notice. Where can you make room? What is not consistent with what you want? What is giving you a sense of satisfaction? What is not? Where do you go from here?

Helps to know where you are,

Judy

Good morning!

Today the reminder is to give yourself some space to “be.” Give yourself some quiet, give yourself some peace. There is much to clutter up our environment from the piles of mail, to shoes (I have plenty) that need to be put away, the radio, the articles to be read....lots of stuff calling for attention. You get to be in choice however. Remember to give yourself room for quiet, so that you can connect with yourself, hear your inner wisdom, and recognize your spirit.

Here are some words from the book Power vs Force by David R. Hawkins. Sit with this. Notice what thoughts, reactions you have as you consider these words:

Man thinks he lives by virtue of the forces he can control, but in fact, he’s governed by power from unrevealed sources, power over which he has no control. Because power is effortless, it goes unseen and unsuspected.

Notice where you are experiencing resistance; allow some time, space to let go of the busyness and be open to something else….a new idea….a different perspective….a release…. So many possibilities!

Peace,

Judy

Gifts & Talents

April 15, 2011

Good morning!

Today I’ve been thinking about natural gifts and talents. Early on we start to realize that we are better at some things than others. When considering a career we look to our talents: What are you good at? What do you like to do? What comes naturally to you? We want to take advantage of our strengths, develop our talents. Usually when we are using our gifts and talents we also experience a sense of satisfaction. So, as we mature, part of our work is to discover what those strengths, talents, gifts are and to find ways we can use them.

The message today is to reflect on your talents. Recognize and appreciate the talents you have. It is often easy to lose sight of what comes naturally, to take for granted what you can do – what you offer.

Think about distinguishing between what comes easily to you and what is difficult. Both areas offer opportunities for growth and learning. There is balance to be found in developing your talents and letting go of, judging, comparing, wanting to be what you are not. Not to say that there isn’t value in taking on challenges, trying new things. You may ask yourself: How can I do this in my style? What am I trying to grow here? What are my expectations?

Also consider that you can use those gifts and talents in many ways, in many settings. Be creative about bringing what you bring into different situations, with different people, about different issues.

Play to your strengths,

Judy

Good morning!

Have you noticed times when you have benefited from the all the choices you’ve made?

Maybe it was a time of loss when people around you came to your support; or, a time when you wanted physical strength and endurance and found that your daily exercise prepared you to meet the challenge; or, a time when you had a conflict with someone at work and you found that your awareness allowed you to pause, hold steady, and create a space for communication.

All of our small, daily choices create our life. We are always choosing where we will put our energy, our attention. We decide on routines to develop our consciousness, to practice good self care, to choose our thoughts, to act in ways aligned with who we are and what we want to create.

Sometimes it seems like making the “good” choices is boring. It’s like taking medicine. Yes, it’s good for us – necessary – but not very fun or exciting. And, maybe it’s not meant to be. There is something to be grateful for about the ebb and flow of energy and to appreciate the quiet strength of daily practices.

Regular, consistent practices can serve us, can build us up. They can ground us; give us strength that we can draw from at times of need when life presents us with challenge. And, it is what we can do in the now. We can practice awareness, alignment, and self care every day.

What are your daily practices? What else would you like to add to that? What would you like to let go of? What would give you a sense of grounding every day?

Ebb and flow,

Judy

Shift

Good morning!

The message today has to do with attitude. The attitude we bring to a situation can play a big part in the experience we have. We know this. It’s easy to see in other people; you know, the really negative person who always seems to find fault, usually has bad things happen to them.

Today consider your attitude around aging. What do you notice?

Play with this a bit. See how you react to the following:

Getting older means _______________________________

In five years I see myself ____________________________

When I think of change I feel ________________________

My best years are _______________________________

What impact does your attitude have on your current experience and what you see for yourself in the years ahead? Change starts with awareness. If you want something else start today.

Shift happens,

Judy
