Good Morning,

Whether we notice it or not change is happening all the time. Looking out the window, there’s tons of green right now. With plenty of rain this summer, the grass, trees, plants are lush and full. Lawn mowers are running full tilt….just had to shut the window for the noise. And, amid all of this bounty of green there is also movement toward fall. Gradually, gradually change happens, and that is what I’m offering for consideration this morning. Where can you gradually make changes to add more of what you want/decrease what you don’t want?

Some examples to start you thinking ….

· Wanting better health -more exercise –better eating habits?

Gradual change could look like: parking far away in parking lots for more walking, choosing fruit instead of a sugary something for a treat, going to bed 15 minutes earlier for more rest, choosing water as go-to beverage, meeting a friend for a walk instead of lunch, taking the dog on a longer walk

· Wanting better relationships?

Gradual change could look like: smiling, acknowledging that person for some quality you notice, listening without judgment, making a date for some time together (a walk?)

Get the idea? The challenge this week is to find ways to bring in activities that will move you in the direction you want to go in a way that is not disruptive. Take small steps that move you forward, folding in more of what you want, consciously and deliberately.

Blend in the best,

Judy

Good Morning,

Many of the messages have touched on the theme of clearing clutter, making space, letting go, releasing old habits/thoughts/patterns. The question today is around what this allows, what this clearing makes space for. What excellent, worthwhile experiences, beautiful things do you want to come into this spaciousness?

Consider what is important, what you want in this stage of life.

· Is there a long held dream that is waiting to be taken out for a spin?

· Is there an issue you care about where you can contribute your time, resources, talent?

· What would you like to learn – just for the joy of learning?

· What are you curious about – and where does that curiosity lead you?

· What wisdom, skills you would like to pass along to others?

· Are there places you would like to see, experience? It’s a big world out there.

· How about expressing your creativity?

What’s calling to you?

Good Morning,

These last couple weeks I’ve been on vacation. Enjoying lazy days, time with friends, reading, walking the beach. This is a time when I appreciate going back to previous messages to find something that resonates. The following is what I found. It’s about paying attention to transition and I found it still gave me something to think about. See if it does for you…..

You may have noticed a theme around transition lately in the messages. My son has left for college. We are now "empty nesters" and I have been living, breathing, thinking, and processing transition for the last few weeks....ok....months as I recognize it has been a process of anticipation, preparation; the actual moving day; coming back to a house that feels much different.

There is of course a lot to notice, a lot to learn from all of this. Here are some observations that I think are common at a time of transition:

· There is a time of focus on the past. There's a replay - highlights of the past - what is being left...recognition of saying good-bye to this time, this phase of life. It's is nice to have it be an appreciation of what has been. I noticed some sadness too.

· There is a also a lot of uncertainty for what is to come next. It can be hard to not have a clear vision, a plan, yet it seems right to be with uncertainty, not to rush to fill in with activities, distractions just because of the discomfort. This is time to be with some empty space.

So, I noticed that a lot of energy was going toward thinking about the past (what was - what's gone) and the future (not sure, unclear). Hmmmm....And I set myself a task: How about coming up with 25 things that are great about being right here, right now, as is?

That is where I am at the moment. My list of 25 has become a list of 30. It's challenging to focus on what there is to like/appreciate about the now and it is a worthwhile exercise to take on.

Try it! Notice what pops up for you. Let go of "yeah, but...." and pull yourself back to right here, right now.....what is good, what is nice, what is there to appreciate?

Exercise that muscle,

Judy

Perfect Moments

August 5, 2011

Good Morning! Today’s suggestion is to pause and consider that this present moment is perfect. This could seem like a stretch. There are many moments when things are OK/good...but perfect? That only seems to happen in the movies.

What would change if you held the perspective that this moment (wherever you are...whatever is going on...whatever you are feeling) is perfect?

If we accept that we want a full life; we want variety of experiences; we want to have the full range of feelings; we want depth – then it is reasonable to accept that every “now” moment is perfect in some way. So, the feeling of restlessness may be perfect because it is propelling you to take action; the feeling of sadness is perfect because it signifies the love you hold for someone when they are suffering, your compassion. Each situation is an opportunity to learn something, to experience something, to be alive. Our challenge is to be present to it, to be open to what is being offered.

This week notice what shows up as you ask yourself: What is perfect about this moment? How might this be serving me? What is there to appreciate here?

Perfect,

Judy
