Good Morning,
To create the life we want we have to pay attention to when it is time to let things go. “Things” from routines, possessions, ways of thinking, habits, roles we’ve taken on, even relationships. There are times when hanging on to “things” is not serving us; it can be blocking our growth; it can be out of sync with where we are energetically; it can be a distraction or energy drain. There are times to put “things” into retirement.
I like thinking of this “letting go” as retirement. It seems more respectful. Many of these things have been good in a way, have served a purpose and I appreciate having had them in my life. It seems right to be aware enough that it is time to step away, give away; but, it is also worthwhile to appreciate the gift these possessions, activities, roles, thoughts, relationships have been.
And, there are some things that are easier to give up than others. Some attachments are strong, some patterns run deep. Certain ways of thinking are well established and those gremlin (that inner critic, over learned rule) messages will try to interfere. They will say that letting go of that is risky, or not possible, or not wise.
It will take awareness to practice this. Here are a couple of the things I am working on putting into retirement: being the judge of other people’s behavior, and being responsible for the happiness of others. I also have some shoes that could go to a good home...plenty of wear left in them.
How about you? What do you want to put into retirement?
Making room,
Judy
