Worth keeping or not?

March 30, 2012

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Here is the question to take with you today: What do you want to keep as you continue on your journey?

As we move through each day, week, season we are constantly taking on, carrying, and letting go: thoughts, perspectives, feelings, tasks, relationships, responsibilities, things, hair styles – the list goes on. Today, give some thought to what you want to carry and take with you. What makes the cut? What is important to you? What nurtures you? What reflects the best in you?

What difference would it make for you to have clarity about what is important and have that reflected in your surroundings, the thoughts you choose, the time your devote to activities?

· What would your day look like? Your calendar?

· How would your finances look? Where would your money be spent, saved?

· What about your kitchen? What’s in the pantry, the refrigerator?

· How does your closet reflect you?

Can you imagine having your surroundings match you? Picture that. Notice what fits your picture and what is out of alignment. Feeling any motivation for spring cleaning, simplifying?

Travel light,

Judy

Ah Spring, where to start?

JPLC_4c.jpg

March 23, 2012

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Talk about jumping into spring! We have turned this corner really fast this year, and the quickness of the change is contributing to a feeling of being overwhelmed that can happen with any transition. It’s that urgency to move into the new, make changes, clear out the old. There can be an accompanying sense of overwhelm – there is much to do that smacks up against limits. There only so much of, time, energy, money and so many places to spend it. So, let’s take a breath and look at this.

I suggest making a plan. Jot down all the items that are running through your mind. See if there are categories that go together that you can organize and prioritize.

Notice your mind-set. Set realistic goals with smaller steps and enough time to achieve. Recognize your progress!

Visualize what you want to create. Keep that in mind as you make steps toward your vision.

Get help and support when you need it. Help and support can come in different ways. It may be asking a friend to help; it might be having a buddy doing the same thing and sharing progress; it might be having a coach to hold you accountable for doing what you want to do and getting an “Atta girl!” along the way.

All part of the journey!

Keep moving & being,

Judy

Signs of Change

March 16, 2012

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Around here we pay attention to signs of spring. Feeling the warmth of the sun, seeing snow melt, hearing birds sing, and noticing longer hours of daylight are all welcome indicators of the change of season.

Today I thought it could be a good reminder for us to pay attention to small changes along the way as we create the life we want; noticing the signs that we are making progress in achieving what we desire. Many achievements are made one step at a time; gradually the shift occurs.

Another way to think of this is the drip, drip, drip method. Water washing over a piece of cement by a bucket full will make no essential change; but, that water dripped slowly over time can cause the cement to fracture and break.

So, this week become aware of the small steps that are moving you forward. Notice the signs of movement. Don’t give up because progress is slow. Some things take time; and, what is the alternative? Keep moving in the direction of your dreams and be ready to notice the tipping point.

Appreciate what you are creating as you create it,

Judy

Riddle this

JPLC_4c.jpg

March 9, 2012

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Here is a bit of a riddle: What do you carry with you wherever you go? In what way are you a time traveler?

Think, think, think……

What did you come up with?

Here is what led me to ask….think about how we always have with us our past, our present and our future. We are always in flow, in process - which means we use what we have learned from our past; try to be fully present in the now; and, are mindful of where we want to be going in the future. Yes?

The question today is about balancing these elements, noticing:

How is the past being of service? Is it ever not helpful? Is there baggage that is getting in the way? Is it time to let go of some habits, assumptions, old coping skills?

How to fully experience the present moment and whatever it brings. Am I up for the challenge? What do is there to notice? What is the thought? What is the choice to make?

Where is this taking me? What am I building here? What is this path? Am I headed in the right direction? Does this fit my vision?

So much going on all the time!

Judy

Aging - how?

JPLC_4c.jpg

March 2, 2012

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Today the questions are around the notion of aging, as in “aging gracefully.” Nice concept – where are you with the notion that this is possible, do-able; and, what does it mean?

We are all growing older every day. Birthdays roll around every year. It is a gift to grow older. And, it is a gift of mixed blessings, for as we add another year we leave behind what was.

How do we age gracefully? Thrive at any age? What do we keep? What should we nurture?

What is that attitude that will serve us as we move along?

How about choosing willingness? As in, being willing to:

· Learn

· see with fresh eyes

· be open to new ideas

· to try different approaches

· listen with an open attitude

· speak positively

· be interested in others

Staying involved, curious, open seems like a way to connect the wisdom acquired, and allow continued growth and learning; finding that balance feels like it could be a graceful dance.

What have you observed or practiced on your journey?

Curious about that,

Judy
